Wow. Harsh.

One of my "Friends" on Facebook posts a link about how Canadians are coming across the border in droves to buy groceries and such.

Innocuous, right?

That's how I took it, anyway.

Then, a friend of hers makes a disparaging remark - suggesting her dislike for this, followed by a "dislike" from another friend of hers.

If Canadians weren't shopping across the border, the city would be a ghost town  and they would probably be even worse off than they are.

I made a comment to the effect that Canadians are helping out the US economy - don't complain! :)  (smiley face included to try and convey friendliness - helping them to interpret it as a nicely put comment!)

Then I get an email from The Friend (well, actually she's my husband's friend - OR should I more accurately say, a friend of one of my husband's exes) saying how she "took offense" to my comment.*

Oh my. Really??

Such drama.

I am on the cusp of making a friend deletion.

Lately it doesn't take much.  I am so fed up with Facebook I am ready to jump ship.

I really don't have the energy

Or the time.

The alternate take-away of this story?

Smiley face emoticons don't really mean much.

:)

* I did message her back apologising for any misunderstanding and to clear it up - that I did mean it in a nice way - no nastiness intended in the least!  No answer..... so far.

Well just like I said to XY, forget the Google+ and forget Facebook too! I'm about ready to hang it up myself. Well actually during the school semester I deactivate my fb acct. which ends up being a good break for a while and then when I'm on break I activate my account again and it's nice to come back to it again. Maybe that's all you need to do is give fb a break for a little while.
I totally lost my lady that does hair and was told in the form of a private message on fb. How sucky is that??

I know!

I just might do that for a while.

And ya...that is sorta rude - drop you from her hair roster. I guess some people find it too convenient....

I was going to say that y'all should come over to Google+ [Opps! Sorry Zazzy.] I've pretty much abandoned Facebook. Not up for the drama anymore.

Why the hell would these idiots have a problem with people coming over the border and buying things? Really? Stop contributing to our GDP you freaking hosers!

I know!

I suppose there will always be those ones.

I DID notice that both of the "friends" were members of the "Tea Party"...maybe that explains it.
