More or less acts like that....but smaller and lighter than a laptop. The screen keyboard can be awkward, so on those occasions you wish to do a lot of keyboarding, it would be handy.
The container itself is very lightweight and you can drop your iPad and it will not scratch.
The iPad pulls off the base part and then goes overtop to protect the screen
